Forensic Technology Helps Identify Remains Found Nearly 50 Years Ago

In another example of the possibilities that can be realized through modern technology, the Raleigh Police Department has recently announced that the remains of a 15-year-old girl that were found in Wilson County nearly 50 years ago have been positively identified. Cindy Marcell Blizzard of Maryland had been reported missing back in 1977. Advances in investigative techniques and forensic science have enabled this breakthrough. Nothing can fully comfort the family and friends of this young lady for the loss that they suffered, but hopefully this will bring them some degree of peace.
